The cauldron's on. Side Quest Socials is coming to the Durbanville Civic Centre on 30 May, and we've been cooking up something a little magical. Come as you are. Leave with something you didn't expect to find.
Here's what's in the pot so far:
🛒 The Market
20+ hand-picked local makers selling things you won't find anywhere else. Fan art, handmade jewellery, collectables, prints, oddities, and treasures. Every vendor is chosen with care. No mass-produced. No dropshipped. Just real makers, selling real things.
🖼 The Exhibition
Our featured artist is Kayla (@_taitanator_) — a Cape Town-based digital illustrator whose work lives somewhere between dark folklore and intimate character study. Think wolf spirits and bleeding flowers, creatures that feel ancient, figures that feel deeply human. Her work is the kind that stops you mid-step. We're honoured to have her anchoring The Enchanted Gathering.
Alongside Kayla's work, we'll be showcasing a curated selection of pieces from the community open call. Submissions are now closed — the wall is being built. Watch this space for the full reveal.
🖨 Maker Workshop
Two hands-on sessions running all day — pick your time, pick your crew.
Adults (16+) — Linocut Printing — R225 Carve a lino block, ink it up, and print something to take home — including your tools. 90 minutes with a facilitator, no experience needed. Capped at 12 per session.
Little Makers (Ages 5–12) — Foam Printing — R80 Design, ink, and print — just like real printmakers. No sharp tools, all the fun. 90 minutes, capped at 8 per session.
Sessions at 12:30, 14:15, and 16:00. Both workshops are ticketed separately — grab your spot before they fill up. 🖤
